Let the Turkey Day Frenzy Begin!!

So this year I am cooking Thanksgiving dinner for the first time... well.. the first time with actual guests!  Not counting the one turkey day that hubby and I did together when we were dating.  That was a crazy fiasco where I decided I needed to make my OWN whipped cream and apparently everyone was sold out!  Long story short I went home with a traffic ticket for not coming to a complete stop leaving a gas station.. and no heavy whipping cream!

This year will be different.. I already have the whipping cream ;)

But it won't be short of insanity.  Early morning I am going out to hit up CVS and Rite Aid.  Both retailers are starting their black friday sale on Thursday.  If you haven't seen them yet or don't get the newspaper or sign up for online emails, you can check out their ad scans here!  Both stores have quite a few free items if you have their discount/rewards cards.  By free I mean you pay for them upfront, but get print outs for discounts on your next shopping visit.  I like this because not only do I get some items I may need or want for a discount, but I can use the print out $$ on purchases of items that are not usually on sale.  I think you ulitimately want to use print outs to buy things that give you more print outs so you essentially never have to actually pay for anything again.. but I haven't mastered this art yet.  I still feel obligated to only get things I actually will use, which doesn't always coincide with there rewards $$ sales!

Then after all the fun and festivities I will be heading to Toy's R Us.  They are starting their black friday sale on Thursday.  They will be having additional sales of toys on Friday not included on Thursday, but lucky me everything I want to snatch up for Eve is onsale Thursday.  Tag Jr. books will be on sale for $7.49 and with a few of these print out coupons I should be able to score her books for $2.50 each.  You have to watch a video and enter a sweepstakes, but then you can print the coupon twice.  I am hoping these coupons are good for Tag Jr. books as well as Tag books.  Only time will tell!!  There was also a $3 off coupon in the November Parenting magazine.. not as good as $5, but still a great discount!  In the meantime, here is a freebie book!

I seriously made out like a bandit today at Rite Aid and CVS.  Rite Aid has this awesome video values coupons that you get by watching ads on their website.  Then you can combine these with coupons that you print out online or manufacturer's coupons from the newspaper or where ever!  Got some Garnier hair dye for $1, Garnier shampoo for $1, Maybelline New York foundation and eyeshadow for about $2 each!  It took me a while to realize you can combine store coupons and manufacturer's coupons just about everywhere!  Target, Babies R Us, Toys R Us, CVS, Rite Aid, etc.  It's an awesome new double coupon savings extravaganza that I've encountered :)

Monday mail brings reusable snack bags!!

So excited to report the arrival of my new snack bags!!  I ordered these from a person selling their homemade items on... where else?.. EBAY!! But as always it was the greatest deal!  For about $8 I got four bags.  This should be enough for chips and fruit and possibly a sandwich for our daily lunches!  Should really cut down on our plastic bag use and purchase.. and we all know they can get pricey with the ziploc super double color changing blah, blah, blah!  These baggies are handwash and air dry and super easy to use!  Kept closed with a strip of velcro at the top :)  There are lots of reusable sandwich and snack bags available on ebay.. and probably on facebook and etsy.com too I would bet!

The other goodies that came in my mail today?  My kotex free samples, and my free Barilla pasta coupon.. along with about a half dozen buy one get one free coupons!  I LOVE getting goodies in my mailbox!!  Free one's are even better!!!

Only a few freebies out there.. seems like it might dwindle come the big sale season.. but rest assured.. even though I'm terribly busy and strapped for time right now.. I'll do my best to find some goodies for you!!

Unpaper Towels! And some freebies this chilly Tuesday!

I am so happy to report that on Friday I received my order of 18 Unpaper Towels from Her Majesty's Closet, a work at home mom running a store on Facebook!  I have been super excited to get these since I placed my order and am thrilled that they are as wonderful as I hoped they would be!  I chose to get flannel and terry cloth towels for the added absorbency and I couldn't be more pleased!  Not only are they super absorbent, but they are also incredibly soft and thick!  And the fabrics she has are super cute!  I've found even Eve is trying to snag them out of my hands so she can clean up her own tray after eating!!  So sweet!!  I keep mine in a wooden bowl on my kitchen counter for easy access, but she can put snaps on them if you like so they form a roll and can be put onto a regular paper towel holder!  They have so many uses.. I even used one to bring my bagel to work or to serve snacks on that I'd usually use a paper towel for! 

Now, if you are one of those super talented mama's that know how to use a sewing machine.. then you are allllll set and can score some great fabric deals at Joanne's.  But if you are scared of your sewing machine.. like I am.. then your best bet is to check out Melissa's stuff at Her Majesty's Closet!  She also makes some other goodies too... including cloth diapers for you other diaper addicts out there!!  You know who you are!!!
